Privacy policy

Local by design, clear by default.

DemoShots is a Chrome extension for recording, editing, and exporting product demo videos. Your recordings and projects are processed on your device, not uploaded to DemoShots servers.

Effective and last updated: August 13, 2026

Data DemoShots handles

DemoShots processes data only to provide the recording and editing features you choose to use. Depending on your selections, this may include:

  • Screen, browser-tab, window, or display pixels and optional source audio selected through Chrome's recording controls.
  • Camera video and microphone audio when you explicitly enable those inputs. They are off by default.
  • Pointer coordinates, movement timing, and click timing on ordinary HTTP or HTTPS pages during an active recording, used to reconstruct cursor motion and zooms.
  • The recorded page origin and favicon used to present the browser frame in the editor.
  • Recordings, thumbnails or object URLs created for playback, project settings, timeline edits, captions, and export settings.

DemoShots does not use its page access to read page text, form values, passwords, cookies, or network requests. It does not collect browsing history for advertising or profiling.

How the data is used

The extension uses this data only to:

  • Record the source and inputs you selected.
  • Render cursor movement, clicks, camera, captions, and editing effects.
  • Save and reopen recordings and projects in your local recording library.
  • Render and download the video you explicitly export.

DemoShots does not use recording data for advertising, credit decisions, analytics, or training artificial-intelligence models.

Local storage, retention, and deletion

Recording media is stored in browser-managed Origin Private File System storage. Recording metadata and editor projects are stored in browser-managed IndexedDB. They remain on the device until you delete the recording from DemoShots or remove the extension's local data.

The optional caption model is stored in the browser cache. DemoShots removes an incompatible previous caption model before downloading a replacement. You can also remove locally stored extension data through Chrome or by uninstalling the extension.

Network access and caption models

Recording, editing, caption transcription, and export do not require uploading your media to DemoShots. If you choose Download model, DemoShots fetches immutable Whisper model files from huggingface.co. The model runs on your device after download.

No microphone audio, source audio, video, transcript, pointer data, or project metadata is sent with the model request. As with an ordinary download, the model host may receive technical request information such as an IP address and user agent under its own privacy practices.

Sharing and Chrome Web Store Limited Use

DemoShots does not sell user data and does not share recording or project data with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties. Humans at DemoShots cannot view locally stored recordings or projects unless you deliberately provide material while requesting support.

DemoShots' use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Changes to this policy

If DemoShots changes how it handles user data, this page and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before the changed behavior is released. Material changes will be disclosed in the extension where required.
